About Me

Hi, I'm Lori Apthorp and thanks for visiting my website. As a lapsed classical guitar player, and one who has played a little banjo, I discovered the ukulele in February 2009, and have been uke crazy ever since. I have a background in Product Design (Art Center College of Design grad, shoe designer for K-Swiss and L.A. Gear), so it is natural for me to try and solve design problems. The Uke Leash is my own invention, with Patent Pending. This is my first Patent idea, and it has been quite an education. But, because it is uke related, I am having a lot of fun with it. Music is a wonderful thing, and playing music is very enriching. So, if this simple device can help people who want to play, and don't have access to a professional strap installation (or wish to keep their instruments unaltered), I will feel it was worth all the work and expense.

I currently make all the straps myself. Someday, when the orders are too numerous, I will have to hand that task over to someone else. But, for now, it is just me.
